Intro to Basketry

Students will work with iris leaf, willow bark, cedar bark, and cherry bark while learning about harvesting and preparing these materials. Experienced educator and weaver, Rose Covert will guide students through the basic techniques of plaiting and twining in bark and leaf basketry, using simple tools such as needles and clips. Each student will finish class with a small, elegant and unique handmade basket.

No experience necessary. Intermediate weavers are also welcome and will be challenged to focus on the design, hand positions and shaping of their basket.

This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops. All participants must accept the inherent risks of participating in a Studio Workshop and agree to sign a liability waiver.
