Teacher: Hannah Watson | Date: Sunday November 5, 10am-3pm | Location: SE Division Studio
Tuition: $150 | Materials: $30

In this class, students will gain in-depth experience in textile patterning with resist methods and traditional Japanese patterning techniques, focusing on Arashi (wrapping and binding) and Itajime (clamping and shaped resist). More info...

Learn folding, tying and binding techniques influenced by traditional and non-traditional methods. We’ll dip into a fresh indigo vat to create beautiful custom patterns on cotton textiles. Students will leave with samples and a large patterned piece of fabric. This class will open up the world of surface design to beginners, while challenging those who have already worked with indigo and shibori to move beyond the experimental phase to intentional pattern-making.
