Tuition: $250 | Materials: $15

Visit Rachel Warkentin, artist and owner of Barrow PDX, at her studio and learn to make ceramic stud earrings starting from raw clay! More info...

In this three-week class, students will learn the material and tactile differences between stoneware and porcelain, and will practice different hand building techniques on the miniature scale. Rachel will demonstrate shaping, marbling, carving and glazing techniques, and work with students to make three unique pairs of finished ceramic studs!

On day-one, students will create ten stud possibilities, returning the following week for polishing, drilling, sanding, glaze application and kiln loading. In week three, students will learn to attach stud posts and take home their finished earrings. Options will be available to add 22k gold accents and choose between sterling silver, titanium, and gold-filled posts.

All materials provided, please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on!
