Hand-Felted Slippers

Teacher: LeBrie Rich | Date: Saturday November 25, 10am-4pm | Location: SE Division Studio
Tuition: $160 | Materials: $35

As the rainy season descends on the PNW, many of us turn to the cozy comforts of the handmade. A pair of hand-felted wool slippers might be at the top of our cozy list! More info...

The Duchess of Felt, LeBrie Rich joins us from PenFelt Studio for this one-day immersion into the art of felting! The workshop will begin with a hands-on lesson in pattern-making, using a plastic resist. Students will learn how to calculate for shrinkage to make a pair of slippers, custom-fit to their feet. The group will learn how to lay out the wool fiber in strategic layers and transforming it into fabric using hot water and soap. To get that perfect fit, LeBrie will guide students in the "fulling" process, to shrink the slippers down to size and block them for a professional finish.

Students will come away with one completed pair of slippers and the know-how to make more for any sized foot. At the end of class students will be given access to LeBrie’s step-by-step video on how to make felted slippers so you can continue this process at home with friends and family. This class is ideal for those with some felting experience, but is open to anyone who is ready to learn on the go and put some muscle into it! Felting is physical and requires some stamina!
