Join jeweler and mixed media artist Arielle Brackett in learning to carve and form rings. Beginning with a piece of jeweler’s wax, students will learn to carve, melt and saw to form a customized and uniquely shaped ring. Techniques for adding texture and decoration will be demonstrated. Students will gain an understanding of the casting process and will be guided through finishing techniques, using files and sandpaper. The carved wax ring forms will be sent away for casting in bronze, with additional fees for silver and/or chunky rings.

On the second date of this class (May 3rd), students will receive their rings from the caster and Arielle will lead the group in cutting, filing and sanding their rings to achieve wearable, finished pieces. Students will leave with a beautiful satin-finished ring and a complete introduction to carved and cast jewelry-making.
