Tuition: $155 |
Sold Out

With autumn in Oregon comes the crunch of leaves, the first rains, and the hope of finding mushrooms! More info...

Join educator and hobby mycologist Isaac Weiss for a day in the forest, seeking mushrooms high and low. Isaac will guide beginning foragers in proper harvesting and identification techniques, introducing students to the incredible array of strange and beautiful fungi that populate the forests of the Pacific Northwest. While carefully combing the woods, you’ll learn about the many roles fungi play in the forest ecosystem, from their work to facilitate interspecies communication, to their critical presence for soil regeneration. With some luck and the right weather, students may find Chanterelle, Lobster, Hedgehog or Bear’s Head mushrooms. While we can’t guarantee you’ll go home with anything to grace the dinner table, we can promise this workshop will give you a new appreciation for wild foraged foods, and the skills to continue mushroom hunting! No previous experience necessary.
