The Art of Everyday Herbalism with Brita Zeiler
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: Brita Zeiler
A core tenant of self-care is the ability to listen and respond to the subtle messages our bodies share with us. Developing this skill requires introspective, and creative study of one’s habits, patterns and needs. In this 4-part series, students will dive into a range of practices employing medicinal herbs, to first hear the voice of the inner self, and respond with creative personalized rituals. Seeing plants as food, medicine, and a source of intuitive guidance, students can lay the groundwork for a practice of individualized healing. WildCraft is pleased to host folk herbalist Brita Zeiler for this 4-week exploration of body literacy, tea blending, bathing & skin medicine, and home as sanctuary. Students will have the chance to work with plants such as nettle leaf, burdock root, dandelion root & leaf, red clover blossom, hawthorn, marshmallow root and yarrow, as well as look more deeply into the Rose Family (apple, strawberry, pear, plum, and peach). Medicinal plants including sage, garlic, ginger, caraway, fennel, basil, oregano and thyme will be explored.
Open to adults 16 & up.
