Escape to Oregon's coastal mountains for an intimate, six-day ceramics residency and retreat with Joe Robinson, Linfield University Art Faculty and owner of East Creek Art Center. Over the course of the week, you'll have ample, uninterrupted time to explore your practice and take a deep dive into materiality. With 5,000 square feet of studio space to get messy in, this retreat offers not just time, but space to spread out and get creative.  East Creek is situated on 20 acres of lush, forest property - wandering, hiking and discovering inspiration in nature is all part of the experience.

Each day, you'll be offered one hour of shared instruction and 30 minutes of personal 1:1 time with Joe or another East Creek Teaching Artist. You'll also have access to everything you need to work in clay at East Creek for the week: 100 lbs of clay, cone 6 underglaze and glaze, raku glazes and material, and more. Students will have access to everything you'd expect in a university ceramic studio: potter's wheels, slab roller, myriad clay hand tools, banding wheels, clay mixer, ball mill and kilns. Interested students will also have the opportunity to utilize other craft media in service of their projects in the wood, metal, and kiln formed glass shops. Students will also have the chance to participate in an optional wood firing event later in the fall.

**Students can arrive starting at 10:00a on Monday, Sept. 26, or they can arrive at or after 5:00p on Sunday night for no additional charge.

After a week of small group making with other residents in the studio, you'll have the included opportunity to participate in a community raku firing on Saturday night, when other artists will come to East Creek to fire pots and celebrate with us and make personal wood fired pizzas.  Camping is included in the cost of tuition; upgrades to private tiny cabin accommodation are available. For an additional fee, you may also bring a non-artist partner or friend to enjoy camping or a tiny cabin, hiking, and campfires. Please read East Creek’s Covid-19 and vaccine policy prior to enrollment. Reservations for additional lodging options are available directly through East Creek: https://www.eastcreekart.org/wildcraft
