This workshop is about untangling the “I can’t draw” stigmas and replacing them with low-stakes exercises and approachable places to begin. More info...

There are numerous ways to draw: our daily movements can be traced in lines and our repetitive tasks leave marks. Walking, folding, pulling, and dragging are all forms of drawing. Yet, drawing as an art practice can feel out of reach. In this workshop there will be a variety of independent and collaborative prompts, techniques, and approaches to drawing, with an emphasis on noticing what holds our attention and keeps us curious.

Participants will be invited to draw as collectors of marks, drawing from our senses, different vantage points, as well as utilizing additive and subtractive methods to create a series of images and compositions. With an emphasis on experimentation, students will get to explore drawing on different types of paper with a variety of pens, graphite pencils and erasures. Come away from class with renewed excitement, and a beginner’s-mind approach to the practice of drawing.
