Ask and you shall receive! A brand new intermediate weaving class, designed by our in-house textile expert, Hannah Watson! More info...

Hannah is turning up the volume in this 4-week intensive focused on creating sculptural, woven textiles. Here’s the story: some yarns like those made of merino wool, stainless steel or elastic are considered “active” for their shape-shifting properties. When these yarns undergo processes such as felting, bending or collapsing, what was once a flat surface on the loom can transform into a dimensional textile. Add in “inactive” yarns such as cotton, linen, and you have the potential to create resistance and pattern within your sculptural textile.

Prior to weaving, Hannah will work with students as they sketch designs, considering the relationship of color, texture and density in their finished woven pieces. Students will use rigid heddle looms, and have full access to WildCraft’s yarn library.

If you’re ready to experiment with adding dimension, form and volume to your weavings, join Hannah for this intermediate workshop!

Open to weavers with some experience on a rigid heddle or floor loom.
