Repeat pattern design, but make it WildCraft! We’re thrilled to offer a 1-day intensive on the art of creating repeat patterns by hand! More info...

Illustrator and educator Jenna Lechner is taking us back to the origins of repeat pattern design, with rulers, tracing paper, pencils, and watercolor, for an old-school lesson on designing seamless block, brick, toss and half-drop pattern forms. For those new to working with watercolor, Jenna will demonstrate techniques to get you going, from how to load your brush and color-mixing to wet-on-wet and dry brush painting styles.

Students will work on multiple pattern designs painted onto paper, and for those who want to develop a certain pattern more fully, Jenna will offer larger paper to create a tiled repeat. While the majority of this workshop is spent with a pencil or paintbrush in-hand, Jenna will give a quick overview of how to take a sample design to the next level, sharing resources for translating patterns into fabric or wallpaper.
