In this three-hour workshop, participants will explore the compositional possibilities of cut paper—investigating how disparate fragments can be arranged to construct new visual narratives.
Led by artist and educator Elizabeth Arzani, the session will include demonstrations in layering, stenciling, and working with positive and negative shapes. Participants will experiment with the interplay of line, color, and form, applying core principles and elements of design such as contrast, movement, and scale to develop dynamic, intentional compositions.
Students will leave with a series of completed collages, as well as a set of strategies for approaching composition through improvisation, intuition, and formal design.
