Coastal Mushroom Forage (Sept 26) with Tiffany Garner

Date: Sunday September 26, 2021
Time: 10am-3pm
Location: Offsite
Teacher: Tiffany Garner
Tuition: $125

For the intrepid forager, fall is the most exciting time of year to hunt mushrooms as the season frequently offers an abundance of varieties of fungi including chanterelles! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of spotting that bit of gold, hidden in the moss & duff. Whether or not we stumble onto edible mushrooms, students can expect to learn about conditions that support fungi as well as ID tips for native plants and trees that can help you spot tasty fall mushrooms. Students will be guided through the steps of safe mushroom ID, using WildCraft mushroom guide and other resources provided by our teacher. No experience required, just an excitement for adventure and learning! Tiffany participated in WildCraft’s 2019 Mycology Teacher Training, guided by Rachel Zoller of Yellow Elanor. This is an off-site workshop, meeting near the town of Tillamook, OR. An exact meeting location and further details will be emailed to students one week prior to the forage.

This workshop is open to all adults 16 yrs & over, who are prepared to hike all day (rain or shine) on uneven terrain, off-trail. This is not a suitable workshop for those with health conditions that may be triggered by hiking, carrying a backpack, or being outside for 5+ hours in variable weather conditions. Please leave dogs at home. Listed class locations are approximate and are subject to change depending on weather conditions and other seasonal factors. A packing list and exact location will be provided 5 days prior to the workshop date.
