Coastal Mushroom Forage (Sept 15) with Rachel Zoller
Teacher: Rachel Zoller
This workshop gives you the opportunity to spend a day foraging for mushrooms on the Oregon Coast. The display of fall fungi is guaranteed to be astonishing within the gorgeous, shaded depths of the coastal woods. This workshop will cover the basics of mushroom identification, with in-depth lessons on identifying choice coastal edibles. The unique environment of the coastal forest offers the chance to stumble upon a larger variety of mushrooms-including many distinguished culinary treasures such as the Lobster, Hedgehog, King Boletes, potentially Matsutake and of course plenty of Oregon’s state mushroom, the Pacific Golden Chanterelle.
Open to healthy adults, 16 years & up. This workshop is ideal for folks who like to be outside, and are capable of hiking for hours at a time. We will be hiking, rain or shine. A detailed packing list, and info about our foraging location will be provided 1 week prior to the trip. The general area of this trip is Oswald West State Park, OR.
