Spend the day learning about mushrooms near the Tillamook Forest! More info...

Fall is the season mushroom hunters dream about! With the cooler temperatures and increased rainfall comes a stunning variety of colorful and edible mushrooms. Spend the day discovering mushrooms near the Tillamook State Forest. Kimberly will introduce students to the interconnected ecology of fungal life, offering recommendations on foraging techniques, harvesting etiquette, as well as guiding students through mushroom anatomy and basic ID guidelines. Kimberly will also discuss home cooking and preservation methods for edible mushrooms. If weather and timing cooperate, this class will be looking for delectable chanterelles, a golden treasure in the forest, among other mushroom species like chicken of the woods, bear’s head and hedgehogs. Though we can’t guarantee you’ll go home with edible mushrooms, we can promise this workshop will give you a new appreciation for wild foraged foods!
