Carving Wooden Wares: 4-Week Intensive with Rose Holdorf
Time: 6:30pm-9:30pm Mondays
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: Rose Holdorf
This class offers students the opportunity to transform a freshly cut log or branch into beautiful hand-carved household utensils, such as chopsticks, spreaders, and spoons. Rose will guide students through traditional greenwood carving, using axes and carving knives. From discussions about proper knife grips and safety, to contemplation of design and decoration, this in-depth class will offer an excellent foundation to any aspiring woodworker. No previous experience in woodworking is required to take this class, though experienced woodworkers will find new skills and inspiration.
No previous experience necessary. Open to all adults, 16 & up. In addition to 4 studio sessions, students are welcome to carve during open studio hours, throughout the month of September.
