Botanical Watercolor Paint Making with Kayla Powers
Time: 10am-4pm Saturday & Sunday
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: Kayla Powers
In this two-day workshop we will work with locally grown plants to create watercolor paints. Participants will learn the process of creating lake pigments and mulling pigments with natural binders to make watercolors. The first day, students will learn to identify regionally available dye plants which we will use to make dyes and then turn the dyes into lake pigments. The second day, we will mull our powdered pigments into watercolor paints using natural binders. Everyone will take home a set of watercolor paints derived from locally grown plants!
No previous experience necessary. Open to students 16 & up.
