Biomaterials: Sustainable Textiles
Tuition: $150 | Materials: $35
Join textile designer and educator Trish Langman for this one-day introduction to the world of biomaterials - fabrics made from seaweed, fungi, bacteria and more! More info...

This workshop will introduce students to some of the latest developments in sustainable textile creation - a growing field as designers seek regenerative alternatives to conventional production streams. Using food waste, textile waste, and other unlikely sources, students will experiment with weaving and felting, growing their own leather, and creating a variety of plant-based fabric and fiber samples. Trish will guide students through hands-on exercises to explore how high-quality, innovative textiles can be made from unconventional materials. Students will leave class with several material samples, a deep understanding of biomaterials and sustainable textile production, and the skills needed to continue creating sustainable fabrics.
