In this sculptural basketry class, artist and educator Brittany Stanton will guide students through explorations in reed basketry design, and weaving techniques for large vessels with the goal of each student creating a uniquely patterned, large-scale basket, at least 14” tall! In addition to weaving demonstrations, Brittany will also guide students through the process of naturally-dyeing basketry reed using plants such as madder root, weld, and walnut hulls. From design to material prep, dye bath to weaving, students will be supported step by step in this thorough basketry intensive. 

This workshop is excellent for students who have taken a basketry class or two and feel ready to scale up! Ambitious beginners also welcome.

This class is open to ambitious beginners and students with some basket weaving experience. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
