We're thrilled to host Anne Williams of ADF Upholstery for this 2-day introduction to upholstery! Working with a variety of hand tools including: tack-hammers, long upholstery needles, scissors, thread, stripping chisel, wood mallets, a traditional button press, tacks and decorative nails, students will be guided, step by step through process of upholstering a tufted ottoman. This style of upholstery first came into fashion in the 1800's, and has been appreciated since then for its dramatic aesthetic and unique folded geometry.
Students will learn how to make buttons with a traditional button press, the diamond-shaped folding technique, the art of hand-tying buttons and how to finish their pieces with a tack-hammer and decorative nails. This is an ideal introductory course for anyone looking for an intensive experience in upholstery! All tools and materials are provided, including the ottoman base. Students are responsible for bringing 1 yard of an upholstery fabric of their choice. Specific info on fabric requirements will be provided upon registration.
