This intimate class, led by Natalie Mitchell (Potawatomi Nation), offers both a hands-on creative experience and a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of Native American beadwork traditions.
During this workshop, students will handcraft a beautiful pair of brick stitch earrings using traditional techniques. Natalie will instruct on the foundational brick stitch technique, how to create secure starts and finishes, pattern reading and creation, professional finishing methods and tips for adding earring findings.
Each student will receive a complete beading kit containing:
- High-quality glass seed beads
- Specialized beading needles
- Nymo beading thread
- Pure beeswax for thread conditioning
- Earring findings
- Detailed pattern instructions
- Take-home reference guide
While no prior beading experience is necessary, students should be able to handle very small needles and beads, and be comfortable with close-up work.
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
